Welcome to ElectroCity, an online game where the goal is to balance your city’s growth with its environmental impact through the choices you make.

It began as a proactive idea: allow Genesis Energy — New Zealand’s leading energy generator and supplier — to take ownership of the energy debate, by creating an educational and innovative interactive environment.

Eighteen months later, the success of electrocity.co.nz surpassed even our wildest expectations. In just over two months, more than 10 million page views were recorded. Up to 55,000 daily visitor sessions were tracked, with average session lengths exceeding ten minutes. More than 400 schools registered to play the game, which was designed for the intention of classroom use.

Best of all, we made it available for free — no strings attached — to both schools and members of the public. Through the power of gaming, we cut through the clutter and gave players a positive, engaging and long-term brand experience.
